4kg in 3mths

OKi~ Post Christmas… or maybe for some of us, Christmas really last 12days of celebration.

This year I’m busy taking photos and watching out for the food that I put into my mouth.

I know right! what a thing to do during Christmas :D
Talk about Christmas candies and turkeys :D

Well, for the record, I lost 9kg this year. ;) Intend to keep it that way!
Or maybe even drop some more before the year ends.

Very round chin..

to…

Different right!!! :D

oki la, the 1st 5kg is lost in an unhealthy manner, how? Its called mental stress.
Its not easy when you have to constantly be aware for 29 other children because of one special child.

Its not the child really, its me who doesnt have the ability to cope and handle.
Hence, thats it, I was crushed.. mentally vexed, taxed and I seek my way out through escapism…
So there goes the 5KG.
2weeks, that was all it takes.

The other 4kg, is really the healthier way.

I think we might have read about the Biggest Loser winner who lost 67kg over six months on the newspaper.
FYI, these were what the doctors said:

“.. Dr H.G. Baladas, a specialist in general surgery at Raffles Hospital, says: “Our advice for weight loss is to keep it to about 1 to 1.5kg a week, because anything beyond that is actually not even the loss of fat anymore. So a 4 to 5kg loss per month is really the maximum recommended.”

“Dr Baladas explains: “Anything beyond that amount of loss per month would actually be the loss of muscle or bone, and that is obviously not good for anyone’s health.

Its extremely important to be aware of how weight is lost. And Really, it isnt about losing weight. Weight could also be because of water mass in the body. So lossing weight = slimming down? Not necessary.

So its not about saying “I want to loss weight” its about saying “I want to loss fats.” or “I want to gain muscles.” or “I want to build lean muscle.”

Me? :) For now, I’ve not stepped into the gym or take up any exercise specifically, so its really “I want to loss fats”.

Its not difficult.
Understand the science behind it and it will help you alot.

My understanding is still basic, but it has help me alot.
1) Eat small meals constantly.
You feed the body constantly, it wouldnt store up fats to defend and maintain itself.

2) Choose less oily stuff.

3) Increase Protein and Fiber intake,
This is especially so when I reduce my carb intake. Why? Replacement lo, reduce Carb, so increase Protein and Fiber. Simple. The stomach will be full, takes 20mins for the brain to register, so eat slow and the right serving amount.

4) Op for soupy stuff
I know, sometimes soupy stuff can be very bad also. Like my recent entry on Yong Tau Foo and Fish Soup Noodles…
no choice, cos Soupy stuff will make you feel full easier. So instead of carbs, next best alternative to Protein and Fiber = Soup.

5) Dont drink with the meal.
Water or any other beverage (did I mention abt the content of the drinks? hmm… save it for another time) when consumed with food will reduce/dilute the digestive juices’ ability to break down food.

6) Glycemic Index
Hmm… ApaNi? :D yes, very chim.
If you have time, read http://www.glycemicindex.com/
Point is, there is a relationship between: Carbs – glucose – insulin
Insulin influences the way we metabolize foods, determining whether we burn fat or carbohydrate to meet our energy needs, and ultimately determining whether we store fat in our bodies.

Our local or chinese culture of eating rice is not recommended. We have been, or at least I have been brought up with the idea that eating rice is important. Or eating bowls of rice is part of a normal lifestyle. Truth is, its not.

The tradition back then was for really for coolies. Chinese when they first arrive they are coolies. They use their strength and energy to carry sacks of rice. That accounts for the mindset of eating rice. It gets passed on generations after generations, but our job scope changes. We do computer work, or less strenuous work. But we still eat as much rice.
The simple greeting. “Jiak Ba Liao Buey” – “Have you eaten?” thats a clear example of the same influence.

Be aware of what you put inside your mouth.

Within the short 3 months of losing that 4kg, I was still out there doing food tasting, food reviews and doing write-ups for food.

Its possible.

and as the article says:

“Dr Nehal Kamdar, a senior dietitian at Raffles Hospital says a balanced diet is best. “There will certainly be health hazards if you cut down your eating too much, or just choose to eat one thing,” she warns. “You would be deficient of protein for example, if you ate only fruit and vegetables. Or you’ll lose concentration and tire easily if you don’t have enough glucose. So balanced eating is still the way to go.”

and that winner’s way of

“.. He says: “Of course I would like to indulge occasionally, but I will just get a taste of it. If I want to eat prawn mee, then I’ll just grab a bite from my friend’s plate for the taste.”

doesn’t work for me. Grab a bite, you think it will work for me? :) No, sorry, doesnt apply. In fact, I’ll get a serving and share it with my friend. More than one mouth.

As a friend mention, 70% of the time eat healthy, the remaining 30%, eat.

And I myself learn. 2 ways of eating.

1) for healthy living.
Choose wisely, know what you put into your mouth.

2) for fellowship, for happiness of sharing the meal with your friend.
Indulge. Please, be kind to the friend and to yourself. Eat. Workout and burn the fats later.

*thumbs Up?
:)

*tHumBs UP!

Thanks for coming by,

Be Bless

Amanda
