I LOVE THIS! Its the regular Bee Hoon breakfast. But erm………..
I came to the realization recently that…… yeah… Lets really have it less.

I have
1. Fried (black) Bee Hoon
2. Cabbage
3. Fish Fillet
4. Fried Bean Curd
5. Fried Bean Curd sheet

These are my choices, other more popular side dishes would be
6. Taiwanese Pork Sausage (LOVE!!!!)
7. Luncheon Meat
8. Fried Egg
9. Hashbrown
10. Wu Xiang
11. Chicken wing

Lets break it down
1. Fried (black) Bee Hoon  – Rice vermicelli: Refined Carbs, Oil, Black Soy Sauce
2. Cabbage – Vegetable: Fibre, Oil, Salt
3. Fish Fillet – Processed fish (dont think we see traces of fish meat left), Flavor enhancer, Oil
4. Fried Bean Curd – Soya Beans, Oil
5. Fried Bean Curd sheet – Soya Beans, Oil, Refined flour

6. Taiwanese Pork Sausage (LOVE!!!!) – Processed Pork: absolutely no idea what are the parts, Oil
7. Luncheon Meat – Processed Pork: absolutely no idea what are the parts, Oil
8. Fried Egg – Egg, Oil
9. Hashbrown – Potato (whatever that is left of it), Oil
10. Wu Xiang – Minced pork, (depends on quality of manufacturing) other ingredients, Oil
11. Chicken wing – Chicken Meat & Skin, Oil

Tastebud straight to heaven, Diet straight to hell. and of course, ourselves straight to the gym/or any workouts suitable.  😀

ABC Breakfast

1544286_10151928485382144_700622567_n

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR Everyone!!!!!

Okay, before we go chomping down on the Chinese New Year Goodies, I wanna recommend you this ABC Breakfast that I’ve adapted.

The first foods we introduce into our body is very important, I think it helps in deciding how the body functions or handle foods for the remaining of the day.

A for Apple
From the whole list in this site, I think 2 and 5 matters, cos it wakes you up and helps curbs reaching out for the next goodie 😉

Reason 2- Apples help wake you up in the morning. Apples consist of fructose which is a natural sugar that takes longer to digest. This long lasting sugar will help provide stable energy for a greater period than even a cup of coffee with sugar. The fiber in the apple also helps to extend your energy, allowing for you to stay awake longer.

Reason 5– Get full faster and curb your appetite. The fiber found in apples helps to suppress your appetite by making you feel fuller. The fiber also helps you avoid the blood sugar crash which usually leaves you craving more food. Starting the day with an apple can help you crave less food later which is great for people trying to lose weight.

B for Banana
I only know Banana gives me energy 😀 thats all. Seems like there are plenty of other reasons and a freaking diet plan for it. But, I’m just putting 1 into the breakfast platter. 😉

2. More Energy

Even with the proliferation of brightly colored ‘sports’ drinks, ‘energy’ bars and ‘electrolyte’ gels (these are loaded with unhealthy chemicals and coloring by the way) you often see athletes eating bananas just before and even during sports.

Watching tennis for instance, it’s not uncommon to see the players snacking on a bit of banana in between games. If a banana can keep a professional tennis player going, it’s got to rank pretty well in the high-quality energy source stakes.

C for Carbs
Any form of WHOLE grains that gives you good carbs, simple carbs. Carbs give you energy~ like Banana~
Avoid Refined Carbs. Although Wholemeal bread is better than White bread, it is still not as good as WHOLE grain bread. Those bread that you can literally see the grains hanging out/around. 😉
I like mine spread with Canned Tuna or Salmon spread. Cant run from a little of those processed food isnt it? 😀 But protein ma. 😀
I would do triple deckers for breakfast before work. Dump in 2 slices of cheese and perhaps 4 slices of lettuce? 😉 Its the bomb! *wOoT! I look forward to going back to work breakfast already. 🙂 (But of course, not triple deckers anymore, need to cut down quantity in 2014)

Go Get It!

P/S: all these gourmet dishes… they make me wish I plant rocket, have dried cranberries, walnut and balsamic vinegar on standby at home. …

Hosting

Went by to a dinner event hosted by a friend, and the things that some of them mentioned evoked some emotions of mine…
Some said “its been long since they had such, so much fun”
Another that mention that they felt nervous.
and the crowd that was on the other end of the long table.
and of course the “the host would like to say some words moments”.

and I asked myself: “What happen to all that?” 😀
What happen to the table for 10 at Old School Timbre Mount Sophia?
What happen to the table for 7 at Brotzeit?
What happen to the table for 4 at whatever Italian restaurant?
What happen to the table for 9 at Tonkichi?
What happen to all the bloggers invitation?
What happen to all the exclusive invite, event coverage?
What happen to the picnic at cemetry? 😀

I laughed as I looked back. 🙂
Yes, been there, done that, hosted, front to the back, left to the right, *ClinKed* *Drunk* *Signed the Bill*
and I realize how fulfilling and blessed my life has been. 😀

I think at 23yrs old I started hosting dinners and experienced the whole night of entertaining people. I applaude me.

1005709_10151554403222144_2143443949_n

But as we move on with time, our lifestyle change. 🙂
I love me. and as I’ve mentioned, I am still awesome. 😀

HA 😀 I dont think theres another as self-assured or arrogant as I am.
While I dont throw so much eat outs, I still love the small groups that I would hang out with at random nights.
While I derived adrenaline and little bits of happiness from interactions and events as such, I learnt that sitting by the river with a good cuppa, dessert and company. Just a few friends recharges me more.

What recharges you? Have you found that balance, that peace, that little sanctuary that you can go to in your life? That certain activity that restores your balance in the heart soul and mind, that clears it all up and prepares you to claim more land?

Go figure.

Prawn and Broccoli Recipe

Prawn and Broccoli Recipe

Inspired from the BKK dish (the picture below isnt how the dish cooked from the recipe will turn out to be).
You need:
1. Broccoli
2. Prawns
3. Carrots
4. Fish Sauce/Oyster Sauce/Salt
5. Garlic
6. Oil (1 table spoon)
Quantity:
Agak Agak.
It is Agak Agak, but okay, its the idea of matching, if you a head of Broccoli, thats perhaps about my fist sized – 10cm in diameter, you know that going into 10 or 12 prawns is abit too much. 6-8 is sufficient. So 1-head of broccoli matches 6-8 prawns
Carrots, dont use baby-cut carrots, it is “recycled”. Say a carrot that is about 16-17cm in length and 4-5cm in width, which is huge, a 7cm by 4cm is good enough.
Fish sauce, if you have it, Oyster sauce (which is very convenient to get) is fine too. 3-4 table-spoon is sufficient. But of course proportional to items 1 – 3. For the more health conscious, or dinning with diabetic peeps, 1.5 leveled-teaspoon of salt is enough (almost more than enough) to give it taste. Point to note the salt will “react” with the prawn to bring out the taste. It’s pretty awesome if prawn is fresh.
Garlic, Be generous, the elders say it kills bacteria of the greens, others say it brings another angle to the taste of the dish overall. I just know that Garlic is good for the body. 2-3 cloves is enough. 4, 5 will be pushing it.
Shortcut:
1. Boil water, put Broccoli in a metal container, pour boil water into the metal container, close up metal container and let Broccoli cook itself. come back in 5-7mins time to check on Broccoli, Broccoli should look cooked by then. Pour away boil water, Douse with tap water to help retain colour (and some say vitamins). Pour away tap water. Leave it. No need to bother about drying, just leave it.
As is, Broccoli takes time to cook. So having “boil” it, all it has to do when it gets into the pan later is to absorb the essence of the dish. *sLuRP!
2. After de-shelling the prawn, give it’s rim a slid, it helps the prawn to “bloom” a little when cooked. Looks better although not exactly shortcut.
Those that are bothered, may remove the “intestinal vein”, some prawns have 2, the bottom and the top. It would then bloom even prettier. 🙂
But yar… fingers will smell of prawn. *yucks* but well, do it once, do it good.
3. Carrot, cut thin thin slice, diagonal strips are always good. It takes time to cook as well.
4. Not a fan of dicing garlic? Cut of top and bottom of garlic. Place a big knife horizontally over it. Apply pressure on top on the knife so the garlic is flatten. There, its easier now. My mom would just dump the whole flatten garlic in and it gets dissipated as we stir while cooking. 😀
5. If you prefer your dish to be a little wet (although entirely unnecessary) dilute the sauce. 3-4 table spoon of sauce to 1-2 table spoon of water. In a bowl, mix well before pouring in.
Steps:
Prep
1. Slice Carrots. avoid getting it wet. Douse it with water and dry!! only before putting into pan.
2. Slice Broccoli. you may consider using small knifes to slid the heads out from the side, and further divide the stems into smaller pieces.
3. De-shell prawn. Wash.
4. Dice garlic.
Here comes the fun!
5. Turn stove on to Medium heat if you are un-confident. High heat is fine too (assuming Broccoli is pre-boiled)
6. Drop 1/2 a tablespoon of water into pan to see that pan is hot enough. The water evaporates when it is hot enough (not very necessary as it is more for deep frying stuff).
7. Pour in oil.
8. Put in Garlic, stir till it looks golden brown, 10-20secs is good enough too.
9. Put in Carrot, stir till it looks somewhat cooked.  (Raw carrots is edible too, dont worry)
10. Put in Prawns, stir for a short while, till its pinkish, as though the whole prawn gains heat.
11. Put in Broccoli
12. Stir
13. Put in sauce
14. Stir
15. Cover pan 10-20 secs is good enough.
16. Dish and Serve.
There you are. Agak Agak. By the feel, looks and intuition 😉

Double Down Burger

KFC introduced their 2 zinger fillet + cheese + bacon burger (Zinger Double Down) in conjunction w the movie Avengers.

20120505-184001.jpg

It’s great that it is not dripping with oil that some people say.

The double down burger is no go for me… too much meat. 🙁 guess I’m not so much of a carnivore.

Then again, the salty-ness of the bacon, w just 1 slice of the chicken works well 🙂 Yippie!

I want to go watch Avengers the movie!!!
Date anyone?

Shopping @ Pavilion KL

So I went KL, discovered a little bit of some stuff in the Pavilion KL

I always know Cotton On as a clothes retail, turns out they also sell some pretty neat stuff, like paper crafts and small frames.

theres this dessert stall called “Snowflake” originated from Taiwan

and then theres this “Shi Hao Wu Tong” (not within Pavilion though)

Apparently its a foodcourt open by this rich guy who gathered and house all the stalls that sells the food that his parents LOVED!

SG has the “Malaysian food street”, this one is “My Family’s Favourite Food Foodcourt” Pretty cool.

The foursquare checkin says the Japanese burger is pretty good.

:/ I am not very sure about that…

a real cool DC Store!!!!!!!

Cutey mascot!

I wanna go travel again! Anyone wanna sponsor me? 😀
